Folsom carries two identities at once: a major Intel campus and surrounding tech-sector employers that generate real data center decommissioning work, and a historic downtown near the old prison that's still home to small, long-running local businesses. Few Sacramento-area suburbs ask us to plan around server racks and UPS battery banks one week and a downtown shop's old till system the next.
- Tech-sector campuses — planned data center refreshes, server room retirements, and UPS battery decommissioning.
- IT asset management teams — scheduled hardware lifecycle disposal with full audit documentation.
- Historic downtown businesses — routine office electronics and point-of-sale equipment turnover.
Servers, networking racks, UPS and backup battery systems, desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and hard drives with certified destruction. Large data center projects get a dedicated pickup schedule instead of a standard route slot.
For downtown businesses and campus offices alike, copiers, phone systems, TVs and conference displays, modems, audio and video equipment and battery-embedded devices qualify too. Battery strings from UPS systems are quoted separately because they need their own packaging and transport.
A data center exit is where the six steps earn their keep. We scope the job and supply containers for racks, loose drives and batteries, and brief your team during training. Our crews make the pickup on a dedicated schedule, each load is tracked under a ticket number with serial numbers where the scope calls for them, and the equipment is processed at our Sacramento facility with drives sanitized or destroyed before resale review. The job closes with certificates and reports tied to your asset list. Our data center and UPS decommissioning page covers that work in more detail.
Data center and general electronics work in Folsom both run under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications, with chain-of-custody tracking that satisfies enterprise IT compliance reviews.
No. California's universal waste rules keep electronic devices and batteries out of trash carts and dumpsters. Folsom businesses can book a pickup. Folsom residents looking for e-waste drop-off can take household electronics to our sister company, Secure Recycle, at 3921 Pell Circle in Sacramento, since we don't provide residential services.
On a regular route pickup. We'll collect a shop's old till computer or office PC along with any other retired electronics, destroy or wipe the drive, and send you a certificate of recycling.
Tell us the scope of your project — a single server rack or a full data center exit — and we'll schedule accordingly. We also serve nearby Rancho Cordova, Orangevale, and Rocklin.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
