This page is for the private side of the industry: companies that design, build, test or repair aircraft electronics and components, and the suppliers that serve them. Public agencies and military programs are covered on our government IT asset disposition page, and airport operators on our airport equipment recycling page.
Avionics have moved from analog gauges to glass cockpits and fly-by-wire controls, and each design change leaves behind hardware that no longer fits a current program. A typical load includes:
- Test benches, oscilloscopes, power supplies and other measurement equipment
- Obsolete, rejected or surplus circuit boards, harnesses and electronic assemblies
- RF, navigation and radar electronics from development and repair work
- Engineering workstations, servers and storage holding design files
- UPS systems and batteries from labs and production lines
Engineering drives can hold drawings, firmware and test data that matter as much as any customer record. We identify data-bearing devices when the job is scoped and wipe them to NIST 800-88 or shred them, with serial numbers on the certificate. If any parts must not be resold, or the work carries export-control or contract requirements, say so at scoping so the handling is agreed in writing before pickup.
Send an inventory or photos of what is leaving. We plan containers or pallets, collect under chain of custody, and log the load at our Sacramento facility. Assemblies are dismantled so metals, circuit boards and plastics go to approved recyclers. You receive certificates of destruction and recycling. Our operations are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Request a quote to get started.
Aerospace and avionics manufacturers, suppliers and repair stations retire test benches, obsolete assemblies, rejected boards, engineering workstations and the batteries behind their backup systems. We scope what holds data or proprietary design information, agree on how each item is handled, and document the load from your dock to final processing.
Simplify your compliance and disposal process with bundled recycling services that handle both electronic devices and batteries in one streamlined solution.
Our scheduled, route-based pickups cover all major regions of California—ensuring efficient, on-time service no matter where you operate.
We provide clearly labeled, tamper-resistant containers to ensure safe and compliant collection of electronic waste and batteries at your location.
Modern Waste Solutions has served businesses and communities across California with dependable, environmentally responsible recycling solutions for over two decades.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
Great guys, excellent customer service, highly recommend!
Polite, quick and easy.
Chris from modern waste was the most outstanding respectful person I ever met my life when he was done he offered to sweep the floors. He offered so much even though he was limited on time he went out of his way and he’s over beyond best guy I ever met thank you so much for your service services Dan ITG.
We have answers.
Design files, firmware and test results often sit on more than the engineering workstations. Test equipment, data loggers and lab servers can have their own storage. We identify every data-bearing device when the job is scoped, then wipe it to NIST 800-88 if it will be reused or shred it if your policy calls for destruction.
The certificate of destruction lists each serial number. If drives must be destroyed before they leave your building, on-site hard drive shredding handles that at your dock.
Nearly any electronic hardware an aerospace or avionics shop retires. That includes test benches, oscilloscopes, signal generators and power supplies; obsolete or rejected circuit boards, harnesses and electronic assemblies; RF, navigation and radar electronics; engineering workstations and servers; and UPS systems and batteries.
Assemblies are dismantled at our Sacramento facility so circuit boards, metals and plastics each go to an approved recycler. Batteries are sorted by chemistry. If you have something unusual, send a photo when you request a quote and we will tell you how it is handled.
Every load is logged from pickup to final processing. At closeout you receive a certificate of recycling, a certificate of destruction for data-bearing devices, and serial-level reporting when it is part of the scope. Our ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications cover the quality, environmental and safety systems behind that work. If your customer contracts or export-control rules add handling requirements, raise them at scoping so they are agreed before pickup.
We pick up from manufacturers, suppliers, repair stations and labs across much of California and parts of Nevada, on a recurring route or for one-time projects such as a lab consolidation or a program closeout. All loads are processed at our facility in Sacramento, where Modern Waste Solutions has operated since 1999. Request a quote with an inventory or photos to plan the job.
