Guest expectations move quickly, and a property that renovates a floor, rebrands or switches payment systems ends up with a lot of equipment at once. A typical hospitality load includes:
- Guest-room televisions, phones, alarm clocks and charging docks
- Key card encoders, door lock programmers and front desk computers
- Point-of-sale terminals and card readers from restaurants, bars and gift shops
- Security cameras and digital video recorders
- Battery-powered exit signs and emergency lights, plus fluorescent ballasts from lighting retrofits
- Kitchen and back-office electronics, Wi-Fi access points and network switches
Property management systems, key card encoders, point-of-sale terminals and video recorders hold guest names, stay history, payment information and recorded footage. Before anything is recycled, we wipe or shred the storage and list each serial number on a certificate of destruction you can keep for payment card and privacy audits. Smart TVs and in-room streaming devices can keep guest account logins too, so flag them and we treat them as data-bearing.
Renovation equipment usually comes out in phases, so we schedule pickups around room blocks and service entrances rather than the lobby. Groups with several properties can set one recycling program for all of them, and a single restaurant with a few terminals can join a scheduled route pickup instead. Batteries go through battery recycling, and ballasts through ballast recycling.
Every load is tracked to our Sacramento facility and processed under our ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems. You get certificates of destruction and recycling for each property. Request a quote with your renovation schedule.
Hotels, resorts and restaurants replace guest-room TVs, phones, key card systems, point-of-sale terminals and camera systems on a steady cycle, usually during renovations. We collect it floor by floor or all at once, destroy the guest and card data it holds, and recycle the rest with the paperwork to show it.
Simplify your compliance and disposal process with bundled recycling services that handle both electronic devices and batteries in one streamlined solution.
Our scheduled, route-based pickups cover all major regions of California—ensuring efficient, on-time service no matter where you operate.
We provide clearly labeled, tamper-resistant containers to ensure safe and compliant collection of electronic waste and batteries at your location.
Modern Waste Solutions has served businesses and communities across California with dependable, environmentally responsible recycling solutions for over two decades.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!

We have answers.
Yes. Renovations usually take rooms out of service a block at a time, so we plan pickups to match that sequence and use service entrances and loading docks rather than guest areas. For a property group, the same schedule and paperwork can apply at every hotel. Share your renovation calendar when you request a quote.
Yes. Point-of-sale terminals, card readers, key card encoders and front desk computers can hold payment data, guest names and stay history, and video recorders hold footage of guests and staff. We identify each of these devices at scoping and wipe or shred the storage before recycling. The certificate of destruction lists serial numbers, which helps with payment card and privacy audits.
Count the televisions by type and size, and keep older CRT sets apart from flat panels, since they are handled differently. Note any cracked screens. We then schedule a pickup, often floor by floor during a renovation, and recycle the sets with the rest of the load. The monitor recycling page explains how each display type is processed. You receive a certificate of recycling for the property.
Battery-powered exit signs and emergency lights contain backup batteries that belong in a battery recycling stream, and the fixtures can be recycled with other electronics. Keep loose batteries in a closed container with the terminals taped. Self-luminous exit signs that need no power contain tritium and follow separate return rules, so keep them out of the electronics load. See battery recycling for the chemistries we accept.
