Modesto's economy leans heavily on food processing and agricultural cooperatives — industries where the office and back-of-house IT equipment (inventory terminals, scale-house computers, dispatch systems) turns over on a schedule tied to harvest and production, not a typical office refresh cycle.
- Food processors and co-ops — scale-house terminals, inventory systems, and back-office computers retired on production-cycle timelines.
- Corporate and distribution offices — routine IT equipment turnover for Modesto-based companies.
- Local small businesses — standard office electronics and battery recycling for independent businesses across the city.
Desktops, laptops, terminals and point-of-sale systems, monitors, printers, phones, all battery chemistries, and hard drives with certified destruction — scheduled around your production calendar when needed.
Copiers, phone systems, TVs, modems and routers, UPS and power backup units, audio and video equipment and battery-embedded devices qualify too. Handheld scanners and the batteries from warehouse equipment should be packed separately; we'll bring containers for them.
Our six steps work around a production schedule rather than interrupting it. We place containers where equipment is retired and walk your staff through them during training. Our own crew runs the pickup between runs or after harvest. From there, the load is tracked by ticket and weight, processed at our Sacramento facility with drives wiped or destroyed before reuse, and documented in certificates and a report.
Modesto pickups follow our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, with full chain-of-custody tracking and a certificate of recycling or destruction for every load.
No. California's universal waste rules prohibit putting electronic devices and batteries in a dumpster or trash bin, and a pallet of retired terminals can't go to landfill either. Businesses can book a documented pickup. Household electronics from Modesto go to Secure Recycle, our sister company for consumers, at our Sacramento address, 3921 Pell Circle, or to a Stanislaus County collection site from CalRecycle's list. We don't offer residential service ourselves.
For computer recycling, Modesto office and scale-house computers ride our truck to Sacramento, where each drive is wiped or destroyed through secure data destruction before the hardware is reused or recycled.
Request a quote and let us know if your equipment turnover is tied to a production or harvest schedule — we'll plan pickups around it. We also serve nearby Fresno, Clovis, and Los Banos.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
