Petaluma built its early economy on dairy and agriculture, and while that heritage is still visible downtown, the city has grown into a genuinely mixed economy: well-known food and beverage manufacturers, a cluster of tech startups and creative agencies drawn by the historic downtown's character, and the light-industrial businesses that support all of it. That variety means Petaluma's e-waste stream is unusually broad for a city its size, from manufacturing-floor control electronics to startup office gear to agency workstations packed with client media files. The city's historic downtown, one of the best-preserved in the North Bay, also draws boutique retailers and hospitality businesses that add yet another kind of equipment turnover to the mix.
- Food and beverage manufacturers — control electronics, batteries, and back-office computers retired during production line upgrades.
- Tech startups and creative agencies — workstations, servers, and networking equipment cycled through as growing companies refresh their gear.
- Downtown retail and hospitality businesses — point-of-sale systems and standard office electronics turnover in the historic core.
- Light-industrial and warehouse operators — the smaller manufacturing and distribution businesses that support Petaluma's food and beverage sector.
Desktops, laptops, servers, networking equipment, monitors, printers, industrial control electronics, phones, all battery types, and hard drives with certified destruction for any load carrying client, production, or proprietary data. We're equally comfortable pulling equipment off a production floor as we are clearing out a downtown creative agency's server closet. Agency and startup computer recycling makes up much of it, and lobby and conference-room TVs from hotels and tasting rooms are on the list too.
Our recycling center is in Sacramento, and Petaluma businesses are served by pickup rather than a local yard. Every account runs through the same six steps. We provide containers and staff training, our crew handles the pickup, and each load is tracked and processed at our facility, with drives wiped or destroyed before any equipment is reused or recycled. Certificates and a report close out the job, which matters to a food manufacturer's auditors as much as to an agency holding client files.
A TV can't go in the trash in California. Old CRT sets contain leaded glass, flat screens contain circuit boards and sometimes mercury backlights, and the state's universal waste rules keep both out of the garbage.
- Petaluma households: we don't provide residential services. Our sister company, Secure Recycle, handles consumer electronics at our Sacramento address, 3921 Pell Circle, and CalRecycle lists Sonoma County collection sites closer to home.
- Petaluma businesses: a hotel, restaurant or office with TVs to retire can add them to a scheduled pickup. Older tube sets are covered by our CRT monitor recycling service.
Every Petaluma pickup runs under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, so a manufacturing floor clear-out and a small creative-agency pickup both get the same documented, responsible handling.
Request a quote and tell us what kind of business you're clearing out so we can plan for the right mix of equipment. If your load combines manufacturing electronics with standard office gear, let us know so we can bring the right handling for both in one visit. We also serve nearby Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, and Novato.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
