Novato sits at the northern edge of Marin County, and its business community reflects that: independent retailers, small professional offices, and family-run companies rather than large corporate campuses. It's also the gateway between Marin and Sonoma County, so a fair number of businesses here serve customers on both sides of the county line. That mix means our typical Novato pickup is smaller and more frequent than a downtown high-rise job — a handful of retired laptops, an old server, a drawer full of dead batteries — and it deserves the same certified process either way.
- Independent retailers and small offices: point-of-sale systems, desktops, and networking equipment retired on a modest, ongoing basis.
- Property managers: batteries, old TVs, and electronics cleared out of rental units between tenants.
- Nonprofit and community organizations: donated or retired computer equipment that needs responsible, documented disposal rather than a landfill trip.
Laptops, desktops, monitors, small networking gear, printers, phones, televisions, all battery types, and hard drives with certified destruction, sized for anything from a two-person office to a multi-employee small business. We also accept mixed electronics that property managers collect from rental units, even when it's a small, one-time load. Pickups are for businesses and organizations. A Novato resident with an old TV or laptop at home has a different option, covered below.
Every client gets the same six steps. We supply labeled containers and show your staff how to sort, then our own crew handles the pickup. Each load is tracked by ticket number and weight and processed at our Sacramento facility, where working equipment is set aside for reuse before anything is recycled. The job closes with a certificate and report, which is often the part a nonprofit's board asks to see when donated computers are retired.
Not legally. California's universal waste rules keep most electronics and batteries out of household and business trash because of the lead, mercury and other hazardous materials inside them. That covers the old TV in the garage as much as a retired office printer.
Modern Waste Solutions works only with businesses and public agencies. If you're a Novato resident with an old TV or computer, our sister company Secure Recycle takes household electronics at 3921 Pell Circle in Sacramento. That's a long drive from northern Marin, so CalRecycle's electronics recycling pages are worth checking for a collection site closer to home.
Every Novato pickup runs under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, so a small office batch gets the same documented handling and disposal record as a full commercial job.
Request a quote. Low-volume and occasional business pickups are welcome here. Minimums depend on the route, and a small load can usually join a scheduled route stop instead of needing its own trip. If you're not sure whether your batch is big enough to bother with, ask us; most Novato pickups are smaller than people expect. We also serve nearby San Rafael and Vallejo.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
