Castro Valley is an unincorporated community of homes and small retail centers along Castro Valley Boulevard, with no downtown office tower or industrial park. Its shops, service businesses, and professional offices are more likely to have a back room of old computers than a server room to decommission, and that equipment still needs certified handling.
- Small retail and service businesses: point-of-sale systems, office computers, and battery recycling along the boulevard's commercial strip, typically in smaller quantities than a corporate account.
- Local professional offices: insurance, real estate, and accounting practices retiring aging office equipment and client-record hard drives that still need certified destruction despite the smaller office size.
Desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, phones, all battery chemistries including alkaline and lithium, and hard drives with certified destruction for offices that need it. We size our service to the load, so a single shop's electronics get the same certified handling as a full office cleanout.
The rest of a typical boulevard back room qualifies too: copiers, phone systems, TVs and monitors, modems and routers, UPS backups, audio and video gear, and anything with a built-in battery.
We run six steps for every account. We start by supplying containers and training the people who use them, and our own crew makes the pickup. Back at the facility, each load is tracked, processed with reuse ahead of recycling, and documented in reports. For an insurance or accounting office, the certificate of destruction for client-record drives is usually the document that matters most.
Modern Waste Solutions holds ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications — the same standard whether we're picking up a single load or servicing a local office.
No. California's universal waste rules don't allow electronic devices or batteries in the trash or a dumpster, and that applies to an unincorporated community the same as a city. Businesses can book a pickup or deliver loads to our Sacramento facility. Household electronics go to Secure Recycle, our sister company for consumers, at the same address, 3921 Pell Circle, or to a nearer site on CalRecycle's list. We don't offer residential service or pick up from homes.
On a scheduled pickup, with the drive handled first. We pull and destroy or wipe the drive through secure data destruction, then the computer itself is resold or recycled depending on its condition.
Request a quote for pickup, or drop batteries and small electronics at our facility if that's more convenient for a smaller load. Local offices with an occasional data-bearing hard drive to destroy don't need to meet any minimum volume to get the same certified process as a larger commercial account. We also serve nearby Hayward, San Leandro, and Dublin.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
