San Leandro's East 14th Street and Marina corridors carry a century of manufacturing history, but the airport-adjacent business parks near the Oakland border are increasingly home to logistics operators and smaller tech tenants — meaning we see everything from decades-old shop-floor electronics to fresh server room decommissions in the same week. That transition is still in progress, so our pickups here often mix generations of equipment from the same building.
- Legacy manufacturers and machine shops — aging shop-floor electronics and battery-powered equipment retired during modernization, sometimes equipment that's been in service since before current staff started.
- Logistics and distribution tenants — warehouse management systems, scanners, and networking gear near the airport corridor, typically replaced in coordinated fleet-wide technology refreshes.
- Growing tech and light-industrial tenants — server rooms and UPS systems decommissioned as businesses scale or relocate into San Leandro's redeveloping commercial spaces.
Desktops, laptops, server racks, UPS and networking equipment, monitors, printers, all battery types, and hard drives destroyed on-site with documentation provided for every pickup. We're equally comfortable clearing a decades-old machine shop office as we are decommissioning a newly built server closet down the street, and we can handle both in a single visit when a building has mixed tenants.
Old equipment is where our training step earns its keep. A machine shop that has run the same controllers for decades may have battery packs, CRT monitors and data-bearing terminals nobody has sorted before, and a Field Service Manager will show your team what has to stay separate. The rest follows our usual order: containers placed on site, a pickup by our own crew, tracking under a ticket number, processing in Sacramento with reuse ahead of recycling, and reports for your records.
It still can't go in the trash. California treats most discarded electronics and batteries as universal waste, so a new tenant who inherits a previous occupant's equipment needs it recycled, not dumped. Ask us to assess it before you sign off on the space.
Household electronics go to Secure Recycle, our sister company for consumers, which operates from our Sacramento address at 3921 Pell Circle. We don't offer residential service ourselves, and San Leandro residents can also find an East Bay collection site through CalRecycle.
Modern Waste Solutions is ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certified, the standard our San Leandro clients rely on for audit-ready records regardless of how old or new the equipment is.
Request a quote and we'll route a pickup through San Leandro on our regular East Bay schedule, with flexible timing for businesses operating around shift changes or loading-dock hours. We also serve nearby Oakland, Hayward, and Alameda.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
