Bakersfield's economy runs on oil, agriculture, and logistics — industries that don't generate small, tidy e-waste loads. Field offices, warehouses, and dispatch centers accumulate ruggedized laptops, radios, industrial control electronics, and fleets of batteries that need a recycler comfortable with volume and variety, not just a box of old office monitors.
- Oil and agriculture back-offices — field-office computers, ruggedized devices, and communications equipment retired on replacement cycles.
- Logistics and distribution centers — warehouse management terminals, scanners, and networking gear from fulfillment operations.
- Growing local businesses — Bakersfield offices scaling up and needing a first real e-waste program in place.
Desktops, laptops, ruggedized field devices, networking and communications equipment, monitors, printers, phones, all battery chemistries (including larger-format industrial batteries), and hard drives with certified destruction.
Office equipment qualifies too: copiers and printers, phone systems, TVs and monitors, modems and routers, server equipment, and UPS and power backup units. A dispatch center's radios and a field office's rugged tablets can go on the same truck as the break-room TV.
Large-format batteries are the one category we want to hear about before the truck is scheduled. Forklift, UPS and equipment batteries are heavy and need their own packaging, and knowing the count lets us bring the right containers. Our battery recycling page explains the handling by chemistry.
For a field-office or warehouse clear-out, the six steps look like this in practice. Before anything moves, we scope the job and set out containers so your staff can separate batteries, data-bearing devices and general electronics, and our Field Service Managers show them how. Our own crew runs the pickup from Sacramento. Each load then gets a ticket, weights and, where your scope requires it, serial numbers during tracking. At the facility we process the material with reuse ahead of recycling, and you receive certificates and a receiving report when it's done.
Bakersfield pickups are processed under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified program, with chain-of-custody tracking built to handle irregular, mixed-equipment loads without losing documentation on any single item.
No. California's universal waste rules cover discarded electronic devices and most batteries, and they can't go into a dumpster or the regular trash. A yard full of retired equipment isn't a solution either, because stored batteries are a fire risk. For businesses, a documented pickup is the legal route. We don't provide residential services. Bakersfield residents looking for e-waste drop-off can use a local collection site listed by CalRecycle, or our sister company Secure Recycle, which takes household electronics at 3921 Pell Circle in Sacramento.
Old computers and laptops are the one part of a Bakersfield load we handle as a data problem first. Drives are pulled and wiped or destroyed through our secure data destruction service before the hardware is resold or recycled, and the certificate of destruction goes in your file with the rest of the paperwork.
Request a quote and describe your volume — for warehouse or field-office clear-outs, we can scope the job before scheduling a truck. We also serve nearby Clovis, Fresno, and Modesto in the Central Valley.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
