Santa Barbara's economy runs on tourism, real estate, and a concentration of wealth management and legal offices that comes with being one of the state's more affluent coastal cities. As county seat, it also houses government offices with public records. That combination means a lot of the electronics retired here carry sensitive client or resident information, not just outdated hardware.
- Wealth management and legal offices — workstations and hard drives containing client financial and legal records.
- County and city government offices — retired equipment holding public records that require verified destruction.
- Hospitality and tourism businesses — point-of-sale systems, office electronics, and networking gear from hotels and visitor-facing businesses.
Desktops, laptops, servers, POS systems, networking gear, monitors, printers, phones, all battery chemistries, and hard drives, including on-site shredding for records that shouldn't leave the premises unverified. Hotels and visitor-facing businesses often add in-room TVs, key-card encoders and back-office phones.
Discretion shapes how we run the six steps here. We place containers out of client view, and staff are shown how to keep drives and phones in a controlled container until pickup day. Our own crew handles the pickup or the on-site shredding. Devices are tracked against your release list and processed at our Sacramento facility. What the certificates record depends on the service tier: a certificate of destruction confirms the job, and at the top tier it lists the make, model, method and serial number of each drive.
No. California keeps most discarded electronics and batteries out of household and business trash under its universal waste rules, and a wealth manager's retired laptop carries client data on top of the hazardous materials. Pickups are for businesses and public agencies; we don't provide residential services. Santa Barbara households can recycle electronics through our sister company, Secure Recycle, at the same Sacramento address, 3921 Pell Circle, though a South Coast site from CalRecycle's list will be much closer.
Santa Barbara pickups run under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, with the documented chain-of-custody law firms, wealth managers, and government offices expect.
Request a quote and ask about on-site shredding if your load includes client or resident records. We also serve nearby Goleta and Lompoc.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
