Mountain View is best known as the home of a major global technology company, but its North Bayshore area holds a dense concentration of tech campuses that goes well beyond just one employer. That density means data center refreshes, server room decommissions, and UPS replacements happen here at a scale and frequency that few other cities in the region match, often across multiple buildings on the same corporate campus in the same quarter.
- Large tech campuses — server racks, networking equipment, and UPS systems retired during data center upgrades, capacity expansions, or full facility consolidations.
- Mid-size software and hardware companies — office IT refreshes running alongside smaller server room decommissions as teams outgrow in-house, closet-sized data rooms.
- Property managers and facility teams — coordinating electronics removal across multi-tenant tech campus buildings where several companies share loading docks and disposal schedules, and where one vendor covering the whole property simplifies scheduling considerably.
Servers, networking switches, UPS and backup power units, desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, phones, all battery chemistries, and hard drives with certified, documented destruction before any drive leaves the building if required. We're equipped to handle full rack pulls as easily as a routine desk-and-laptop refresh, including the physical breakdown and packaging of rack-mounted equipment on site.
Beyond the rack pull, campus buildings retire copiers and printers, phone systems, TVs and conference displays, modems, audio and video equipment and battery-embedded devices, and all of it qualifies, so computer recycling for a Mountain View campus can share a truck with the racks.
On a multi-building campus, each of our six steps has a practical job. Containers go to each loading dock, and training covers the facility staff who stage equipment. Our own crews make every pickup, without subcontractors. Each load is tracked under its own ticket with serial numbers where required, processed at our Sacramento facility with drives sanitized or destroyed before resale review, and closed out in certificates and reports tied to your asset list. Our data center and UPS decommissioning page covers rack and battery work in more detail.
Mountain View pickups are handled under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, with documented chain-of-custody tracking from the loading dock through final processing — the level of detail that satisfies the compliance and security requirements large technology employers already expect internally.
No. California's universal waste rules don't allow electronic devices or batteries in the trash or a dumpster, and UPS batteries in particular need proper packaging for transport. Businesses can book a pickup. We don't provide residential services. Mountain View residents looking for e-waste drop-off can use a Santa Clara County site from CalRecycle's list or our sister company, Secure Recycle, at the same Sacramento address, 3921 Pell Circle.
Request a quote and describe your facility's server room or data center footprint, including rack count and any UPS or battery systems involved, so we can scope crew size and equipment properly ahead of the visit. We also serve neighboring Palo Alto and Sunnyvale for companies running multi-site operations across the peninsula.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
