A Light-Industrial Counterpart in the South Valley

Morgan Hill shares South County's semi-rural character with neighboring Gilroy, but its business base leans more toward light-industrial parks and small manufacturing operations alongside a growing residential community. That combination means a steady mix of small-business office equipment and light-industrial electronics turnover, rather than the retail and agricultural mix found just down the highway. As the city has grown, new light-industrial tenants have moved into business parks along the highway corridor, adding another layer of equipment turnover on top of the town's longtime small manufacturers.

Who uses our e-waste recycling in Morgan Hill
  • Light-industrial and small manufacturing businesses: retired production and office electronics from Morgan Hill's business parks as equipment ages out or lines are reconfigured.
  • Local retail and service businesses: standard point-of-sale and office equipment turnover from the city's smaller commercial corridor.
  • Property managers: rental-property electronics disposal scheduled around a landlord's own calendar.
What e-waste items qualify for pickup from Morgan Hill?

Desktops, laptops, light-industrial and production electronics, monitors, networking equipment, printers, phones, all battery chemistries, and hard drives with certified destruction. We also handle the smaller test and control equipment common in light-industrial settings, along with routine office turnover from the businesses that share the same buildings.

Copiers, phone systems, TVs, modems, UPS backups and battery-embedded devices qualify as well. For a property manager, the list covers electronics left in a rental as long as they're set aside from furniture and trash.

How is e-waste recycled for Morgan Hill businesses?

Our six-step program applies to a family-owned shop and a manufacturing tenant alike: containers for each material, training for your staff, a pickup by our own crew, tracking under a ticket number, reuse-first processing at our Sacramento facility, and certificates and reports.

Morgan Hill pickups run under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, with the same documented chain-of-custody standard used throughout Santa Clara County, no matter the size of the business. That means a family-owned shop gets the same certificate of recycling and destruction paperwork as a larger manufacturing tenant down the road.

Can Morgan Hill businesses throw e-waste in the trash?

No. Discarded electronics and batteries are universal waste in California and can't go into trash carts or dumpsters. That includes test and control equipment from a production line. Businesses can book a pickup. Morgan Hill households aren't part of our service, since we work with businesses and institutions. They can use a South County collection site listed by CalRecycle or our sister company, Secure Recycle, at our Sacramento location, 3921 Pell Circle.

Where do old computers from Morgan Hill businesses go?

Computer recycling for Morgan Hill businesses runs through our Sacramento facility, where drives are wiped or destroyed before anything is reused or recycled. A business that needs proof can add secure data destruction and receive a certificate of destruction.

A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.

Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
