A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Concord is one of the largest cities in Contra Costa County, and it's in the middle of a genuine transformation: the former Concord Naval Weapons Station is being redeveloped into new neighborhoods and commercial space, even as the city's existing office parks and retail centers along Contra Costa's BART corridor keep cycling through equipment on their own schedules. Between new construction and old office churn, Concord generates decommissioning jobs at a scale most nearby suburbs don't. The city's size also means a wider mix of building ages, from older downtown offices with legacy wiring closets to brand-new commercial space that still needs its first round of IT equipment sorted out.
- Office park tenants — full-suite IT refreshes and lease-end clear-outs involving servers, desktops, and networking racks.
- Redevelopment and construction contractors — legacy electronics and control systems cleared from sites ahead of new Naval Weapons Station-area construction.
- Retail center operators — POS systems and back-office equipment replaced during store remodels along Concord's commercial corridors.
Servers, UPS units, networking racks, desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, POS systems, phones, all battery types, and hard drives destroyed with full chain-of-custody documentation, scaled for anything from one office to a multi-building project. We also handle legacy telecom and wiring-closet equipment left behind in older buildings, along with the security and access-control systems replaced during redevelopment.
Copiers, phone systems, TVs and conference-room displays, audio and video gear, and battery-embedded devices are on the list too. For a lease-end clear-out, it's simplest to leave everything electronic in one staging area and let our crew sort it.
On a multi-building job, the six steps are what keep the paperwork straight. It begins with staging containers and a walk-through with your facilities team, and our Field Service Managers brief the people who will be loading. Our own crews make each pickup, phased if the project is. Every load is tracked under its own ticket, processed at our Sacramento facility, and closed with certificates and a report, so each phase of a project can close with its own documents.
Concord jobs run under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, with the audit-ready paperwork that larger decommissioning and redevelopment projects require. Asset-level tracking is available for IT teams that need a serialized record of exactly what left the building and when.
No. Discarded electronics and batteries are universal waste in California and can't go in a trash dumpster or a construction roll-off, even during a demolition. Pull electronics and control systems out before the building is cleared and book a pickup. Modern Waste Solutions works only with businesses and public agencies. If you're a Concord resident with an old TV or computer, our sister company Secure Recycle takes household electronics at 3921 Pell Circle in Sacramento, or you can use a Contra Costa collection site from CalRecycle's list.
Servers, networking racks and desktops from an office-park refresh go through IT asset disposition: data sanitization or destruction first, then a resale review, then recycling for whatever can't be reused. UPS units and their batteries are handled under data center and UPS decommissioning.
Request a quote — for office park or redevelopment-scale jobs, we'll scope volume and access logistics with your facilities or project team before scheduling, including staged pickups across multiple buildings if a project is being phased. We also serve nearby Walnut Creek, Martinez, and Pleasant Hill.

This was our first time working with MWS and they were amazing! Quick response time, efficient, and friendly. Ivan was the team member who was on site for the pickup, and he was great. He worked quickly, is very knowledgeable, and is so kind. It was so easy working with him. We are looking forward to using MWS for our E-waste and Universal waste needs in the future. - Sacramento City College Sustainability

Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
