Pleasant Hill's BART-adjacent office towers and commercial corridor along Contra Costa Boulevard mean more multi-tenant buildings and corporate offices than a typical suburb — which means bigger, more coordinated equipment retirements when a floor or a whole tenant moves out.
- Corporate tenants — full-floor office moves and lease-end clear-outs involving desktops, monitors, and networking equipment.
- Property managers — coordinating e-waste removal left behind by departing tenants across multi-tenant buildings.
- IT departments — server closet and UPS decommissioning for offices consolidating or relocating.
Most Pleasant Hill jobs are computer recycling at heart: desktops, laptops, monitors, printers and copiers, networking equipment, UPS units, phones, all battery chemistries, and hard drives with certified destruction, sized for anything from a single office to a full-floor clear-out. When a tenant leaves in a hurry, we also see desk phones, conference-room displays and the odd box of chargers nobody claimed.
Lease-end jobs tend to follow the same sequence:
- The property manager or facilities lead tells us the floors, the rough volume and the move-out date.
- We place carts or gaylords and walk the tenant's staff through what to separate, mainly drives and batteries.
- Our crew handles the pickup, using the building's dock and freight elevator windows.
- The load is tracked and processed in Sacramento.
- Certificates and a report go to whoever needs them, whether that's the departing tenant, the landlord, or both.
They can't. California treats most discarded electronics and batteries as universal waste, and they have to go to an authorized recycler instead of the building's trash service. That's worth writing into move-out instructions. Residents of Pleasant Hill are covered by the same rule. Pleasant Hill households aren't part of our service, since we work with businesses and institutions; our sister company, Secure Recycle, handles consumer electronics at the same Sacramento location, 3921 Pell Circle, and CalRecycle lists closer sites.
Pleasant Hill jobs run under the same ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process as every pickup we do, with tracked chain-of-custody suited to multi-tenant, multi-stakeholder projects.

Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
