Redwood City has spent the last two decades adding corporate campuses to its downtown and waterfront districts, layered on top of its long-standing role as the seat of San Mateo County government. That combination means a steady stream of retired laptops, networking gear, and server hardware moving out of both private office buildings and public agencies — often on tighter compliance timelines than a typical office clear-out, and often in volumes that outgrow a standard pickup truck.
- Corporate campus IT teams — refreshing fleets of workstations, monitors, and switches as headcount and office footprints grow across the city's waterfront and downtown campuses.
- County and municipal offices — equipment retired under public-sector record-retention and disposal requirements, from courthouse workstations to department server closets.
- Biotech and life-science tenants — lab-adjacent computers, instrumentation, and networking equipment retired during lease turnovers in Redwood City's growing life-sciences office parks.
Desktops, laptops, monitors, servers and networking racks, UPS units, printers, phones, all battery chemistries, and hard drives with certified on-site or in-facility destruction, sized for anything from a single office refresh to a full floor or building decommission, with logistics planned around loading docks and freight elevators where needed.
County departments usually ask about the middle of the process, so here it is in order. After we set up equipment and train the people filling it, our crew does the pickup and matches the load to your release list. Tracking logs weight, material type and, where the scope includes it, serial numbers. Processing handles every data-bearing device first, by wiping to NIST SP 800-88 or shredding. Reports record what was received and how it was processed, which is what a public-records officer will want on file.
We run one drop-off location, for business deliveries: our recycling center at 3921 Pell Circle in Sacramento, open Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 3:00pm. Businesses with their own transport can deliver approved material there. We don't provide residential services. Redwood City households can recycle electronics through our sister company, Secure Recycle, at the same Sacramento address, or at a Peninsula site listed by CalRecycle.
Whichever you choose, electronics can't go in the trash. California treats most of them as universal waste because of the lead, mercury and other hazardous materials they contain.
Every Redwood City pickup runs under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, giving corporate facilities teams and county departments alike the documented chain-of-custody their compliance officers, auditors, and public-records requirements demand.
Request a quote and tell us whether your project involves a full data center decommission, a public-sector equipment retirement, or a routine office refresh — we'll scope the crew, trucks, and equipment accordingly and walk you through the paperwork you'll receive afterward. We also serve neighboring San Mateo, just down the Peninsula.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
