As the seat of Madera County and a short drive north of Fresno, Madera sits at the center of a grape and almond processing economy that produces sharp, harvest-driven spikes in equipment turnover — packing-house scale terminals, weighbridge computers, and inventory systems that all need replacing around the same few weeks each year. County government offices add a second, steadier layer of demand that most agricultural-focused haulers aren't equipped to also handle. That seasonal spike-and-steady-state pattern is exactly what a purely template-driven recycler misses; Madera needs a partner who can scale up fast during harvest and still show up reliably the rest of the year for county offices and everyday businesses.
- Grape and almond processors and packing houses — scale terminals, weighbridge computers, and inventory systems retired around harvest, often in bulk once the season ends.
- Madera County government offices — routine IT equipment turnover with public-records-compliant data destruction for county departments.
- Local businesses along the Highway 99 corridor — standard office electronics and battery recycling for independent Madera businesses.
Desktops, laptops, scale and weighbridge terminals, monitors, printers, phones, all battery chemistries, and hard drives shredded on-site when public-records or client-confidentiality requirements call for it. We also handle networking equipment, point-of-sale systems, and the seasonal handheld scanners packing houses bring on for harvest and then need to retire once the season winds down.
Outside the packing house, copiers, phone systems, TVs, modems and routers, UPS backups and battery-embedded devices qualify too. For a county department, that's most of what a records office retires in a refresh.
Harvest spikes and steady county turnover, including computer recycling for Madera offices, run through the same six steps. We set out containers ahead of the season and train the staff who will fill them, then our own crew makes the pickup, including the follow-up once the season ends. Loads are tracked under ticket numbers and processed at our Sacramento facility with drives handled first. The job ends with certificates and reports for your audit file.
Madera pickups follow our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-certified process, with full chain-of-custody tracking and a certificate of recycling or destruction issued for every load — audit-ready documentation for agribusiness clients, county departments, and everyday local businesses alike.
No. Discarded electronics and batteries are universal waste under California rules and can't go in a dumpster, a trash cart or a packing-house compactor. County offices have the additional duty to protect public records on retired drives, which is why we offer on-site hard drive shredding. Madera households aren't part of our service, since we work with businesses and institutions. They can use a local collection site from CalRecycle's list or our sister company, Secure Recycle, at our Sacramento location, 3921 Pell Circle.
Request a quote and let us know if you're coming up on harvest season — we'll get ahead of the equipment turnover before it becomes a storage problem, and we can schedule a follow-up pickup for whatever surfaces once the season ends. We also serve nearby Merced and Fresno, both easy additions to a Madera route.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
