Davis runs on UC Davis — not just the university itself, but the research labs, satellite offices, and ag-tech startups that orbit it. That means a different equipment mix than most of Sacramento County: lab computers and instrumentation controllers alongside standard office gear, plus a bike-friendly, densely populated student community generating its own steady stream of laptops and phones.
- University-affiliated labs and offices: research computing equipment and instrumentation controllers retired between grant cycles.
- Ag-tech and research startups: office and lab hardware turnover as teams scale.
Desktops, laptops, lab and research computing equipment, networking gear, monitors, phones, all battery types, and hard drives with certified destruction, including drives that may hold unpublished research data. Printers and copiers, TVs, phone systems, UPS backups and battery-embedded devices round out the list.
Through our sister company, Secure Recycle, which serves households from our Sacramento address at 3921 Pell Circle. Modern Waste Solutions picks up from labs, offices and businesses and doesn't provide residential services. Move-out week is a good time to plan the trip. Leaving electronics on the curb, or in the trash, isn't allowed: California's universal waste rules cover discarded electronics and batteries. If Sacramento is out of the way, CalRecycle lists other collection sites in Yolo County.
For computer recycling in Davis labs, research offices usually need to know the chain of custody before they release equipment. Our program has six steps. We start with containers and labels and staff training at your site, followed by pickup by our own crew. From there the load is tracked under a ticket number (with serial numbers if your scope asks for them), processed at our facility with data-bearing devices triaged first, and closed with certificates and a report. Davis pickups run under our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications, with the documented chain of custody university research offices need before releasing equipment.
Request a quote and let us know if you're decommissioning lab or research equipment so we can plan appropriately. We also serve nearby Woodland and Sacramento.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
