- POS terminals, card readers and cash drawers
- Back-office computers, monitors and receipt printers
- In-store displays, signage electronics and networking equipment
- Security cameras and DVRs from store surveillance systems
Some of this comes out during a remodel or POS system upgrade, and all of it comes out at once when a location closes.
POS terminals and card readers can retain transaction data, which is why PCI DSS and similar card-industry rules expect retired payment hardware to be wiped or destroyed, not simply thrown out. We wipe drives to NIST 800-88 or destroy them and log the result by serial number, so you have a record for your compliance file.
Retailers with several locations get the same process and documentation format at every store, so results are comparable across the chain. A store closure can mean a full cleanout — POS hardware, back-office equipment, displays and batteries — in a single scheduled pickup.
We can take batteries and fluorescent ballasts on the same visit, through battery recycling and ballast disposal.
Retail locations retire point-of-sale hardware, back-office computers and store electronics on their own schedule — a remodel, a POS upgrade, or a store closing. We work with single locations and multi-store retailers alike.
Simplify your compliance and disposal process with bundled recycling services that handle both electronic devices and batteries in one streamlined solution.
Our scheduled, route-based pickups cover all major regions of California—ensuring efficient, on-time service no matter where you operate.
We provide clearly labeled, tamper-resistant containers to ensure safe and compliant collection of electronic waste and batteries at your location.
Modern Waste Solutions has served businesses and communities across California with dependable, environmentally responsible recycling solutions for over two decades.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
Aaron and Vincent were awesome, excellent customer service!
