Foothill Farms is an unincorporated, mostly residential community in the northern suburbs of Sacramento County, alongside North Highlands, Antelope, and Citrus Heights. There's no downtown and not much industry. What it does have is small storefronts and offices, and a lot of people who work from home: bookkeepers, contractors, consultants, online sellers, and remote workers whose employers expect company laptops to be disposed of properly.
That changes what e-waste recycling in Foothill Farms looks like. The volumes are small, the devices are personal-sized, and nearly all of them hold data. Businesses with a storefront or office can book a pickup. Anyone working from home drops off at our facility in north Sacramento, which is close by.
If you operate a business from a storefront, office, or commercial space, we can collect:
- laptops, desktops, and monitors
- printers, scanners, and all-in-one office machines
- phones, tablets, and office networking gear
- UPS battery backups and rechargeable battery packs
- inventory electronics from online resellers, such as returned or broken devices
- hard drives, SSDs, and USB storage for certified destruction
We don't pick up from homes, including home offices and home-based businesses. Details are below.
After pickup or drop-off, your load is checked in and recorded at our Sacramento facility. Data-bearing devices are separated first so their drives can be wiped or shredded. Working equipment is assessed for reuse. Everything else is taken apart, and the metals, plastics, glass, circuit boards, and batteries are sent to approved recycling outlets. Our operation is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, and you can request a certificate of recycling for the load.
If a client's tax return or a patient's file ever touched your computer, the drive needs more than a factory reset before recycling. We destroy drives physically or wipe them to NIST 800-88, and issue a certificate of destruction that shows the job was done. That certificate is often what an employer or client asks to see. The hard drive destruction page covers both methods.
No. In California, household and business trash can't include electronics or most batteries. They are regulated as universal waste because of the lead, mercury, and other metals inside, and lithium batteries are a common cause of fires in garbage trucks. Recycling is the legal route.
Through our sister company, Secure Recycle, which works with households and home offices from our same address, 3921 Pell Circle, Sacramento, a short drive west. Modern Waste Solutions doesn't provide residential services or collect from homes. Storefronts and offices can book a pickup, or deliver a load to our facility through business drop-off.
Businesses can request a quote for a pickup. We also serve nearby Antelope, Citrus Heights, and North Highlands, and the rest of Sacramento County.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
