Rosemont is an unincorporated community in Sacramento County, wedged between the city of Sacramento and Rancho Cordova just south of Highway 50. It's mostly residential, built out in the decades after World War II, with commercial strips along Kiefer Boulevard and Bradshaw Road. The office parks and business districts around Mather and Rancho Cordova are right next door, and many Rosemont residents work there or run small businesses of their own.
E-waste in Rosemont comes from a steady mix of small offices, schools and churches, and auto shops. Typical loads are a few computers, a stack of monitors, and a bucket of batteries rather than a warehouse clean-out.
- office desktops, laptops, and monitors
- printers, copiers, and phone systems
- classroom and church electronics such as projectors and AV equipment
- batteries and UPS backup units
- automotive batteries and diagnostic tools from repair shops
- hard drives and backup storage
Anything with a plug or a battery is usually a candidate. Ask if you're unsure.
We can leave collection containers or simply pick up what you've set aside. Each load is recorded when it reaches our Sacramento facility. Data-bearing devices go through destruction first. Working equipment is evaluated for reuse, and the rest is dismantled so metals, plastics, glass, circuit boards, and battery chemistries reach approved recyclers. We run the process under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, and you can ask for a certificate of recycling.
For an office or school, the drive is the part that needs attention. We wipe drives to NIST 800-88 or shred them, then issue a certificate of destruction. Schools and nonprofits may need that record for their own policies. The hard drive destruction page explains the options.
No. California law keeps electronics and most batteries out of household and commercial trash everywhere in the state, because they're regulated as universal waste. Unincorporated Sacramento County follows the same state rules. Taking old devices to a recycler is the legal route.
Our recycling center is at 3921 Pell Circle in north Sacramento, across town from Rosemont. Businesses can schedule pickup or deliver small loads there; the business drop-off page lists what to bring. Rosemont households and home-based businesses aren't part of our service, since we pick up from business premises only. Our sister company, Secure Recycle, handles consumer electronics at the same address.

No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
