Cupertino covers only a few square miles of the west Santa Clara Valley, but the concentration of technology work here is unusual even for Silicon Valley. Apple Park anchors the city, and around it are suppliers, startups, engineering consultancies, and the offices along Stevens Creek Boulevard. De Anza College, the public schools, and a busy medical and dental community add their own steady flow of retired computers.
E-waste in Cupertino tends to be dense in value and in data. Prototype hardware, engineering laptops, test rigs, and lab servers can carry intellectual property as well as personal information, which is why most of our Cupertino work runs through IT asset disposition with serial-number tracking.
- engineering laptops, workstations, and developer test devices
- servers, storage arrays, switches, and rack-mounted UPS systems
- phones, tablets, and other mobile devices retired in bulk
- monitors, docking stations, printers, and conference-room AV gear
- lithium-ion batteries and battery packs, including swollen or damaged cells packed for safe transport
- hard drives, SSDs, and other data-bearing media
Tell us if anything in the load is unreleased or confidential hardware. We can agree on how it's handled and what the paperwork says before it leaves your building.
Assets are counted and, when you need it, tagged by make, model, and serial number at pickup. They travel to our Sacramento facility under a documented chain of custody. Data-bearing devices are wiped to NIST 800-88 or shredded. Equipment with remaining value is evaluated for resale or redeployment, which can offset the cost of the job, and everything else is dismantled and sent to approved recyclers by material type. The closeout package includes an asset report and certificates of recycling and destruction.
A security team needs proof that the data is gone before the laptops leave for recycling. We offer drive wiping with a per-serial verification record, off-site shredding, and on-site hard drive shredding at your campus so drives are destroyed before they leave your control. Our guide to data destruction methods compares them.
Not in California. Monitors, computers, phones, and batteries are regulated as universal or hazardous waste by the state's Department of Toxic Substances Control, so they can't go in the trash or a construction dumpster. The business that discards them stays responsible until they reach an authorized recycler, which is why the certificate matters.
We don't run a drop-off site in the South Bay. Our recycling center is in Sacramento, and businesses in Cupertino are served by pickup. Businesses that prefer to deliver can use our business e-waste drop-off in Sacramento. We don't provide residential services; households can recycle electronics through our sister company, Secure Recycle, at the same address, 3921 Pell Circle, and closer options are listed by CalRecycle.
Request a quote with an approximate asset count, whether you need serial-level reporting, and any on-site destruction requirement. We also serve nearby Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and Campbell, along with the rest of Santa Clara County.
No obligation. We respond same business day.
Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
