Loomis sits on Interstate 80 between Rocklin and Penryn, and it has kept a small-town character that its bigger neighbors lost. The old downtown along Taylor Road dates to the days when the town packed and shipped fruit from the surrounding orchards, and the Loomis Basin around it is still a place of large lots, horse properties, and nurseries. Every fall the town hosts the Loomis Eggplant Festival.
Businesses here are small and varied: garden centers and landscape suppliers, builders and trades contractors, equestrian and agricultural operations, and professional offices along Taylor Road and Horseshoe Bar Road. Their e-waste is a mix of office computers, shop and yard equipment batteries, and the odd piece of irrigation or gate-control electronics.
We collect business electronics and batteries such as:
- office computers, laptops, printers, and phone systems
- point-of-sale systems from shops and nurseries
- irrigation controllers, gate operators, and similar outdoor electronics
- batteries from tools, carts, tractors, and backup power systems
- security cameras and recorders
- hard drives that need destruction
Most Loomis customers keep a container or two on site and call when they're full; larger operations can be on a regular route. Once collected, the load is logged at our Sacramento facility. We test what can be reused, then dismantle the rest and send each material stream, from circuit board to battery chemistry, to an approved recycler. Our process is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, and the paperwork includes a certificate of recycling.
A small office computer holds the same kind of sensitive data as a corporate one: client files, payroll, bank details. We either wipe drives to NIST 800-88 with a verification record or shred them. If you'd rather watch it happen, on-site hard drive shredding destroys them at your location before anything is loaded. Either way you get a certificate of destruction.
No. California's universal waste rules keep electronics and most batteries out of household and commercial trash across California, and Placer County is no exception. Lead acid batteries from farm and yard equipment have to go to a recycler, and lithium tool packs can ignite if they're crushed.
We don't have a Loomis drop-off site. Our recycling center is in Sacramento, at 3921 Pell Circle, and businesses in Loomis are served by pickup. A Loomis business can also deliver a load there; the business drop-off page explains how. We don't provide residential services, and households can recycle electronics and batteries through our sister company, Secure Recycle, at the same address.

Reviews
A little bit off the beaten track in Natomas, but Modern Waste quickly and efficiently helped me recycle my broken Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at a reasonable $/lb fee (Sac county e-waste will not accept these items). Ramiro and Vincent were very friendly and helpful.
Chris was awesome! He came in and picked up all of the e-waste we had ready for him. He was polite and professional throughout the entire process. He handled the equipment with care, including the site equipment that was already in place. I am very happy with his service and appreciate the great job he did.
