Pleasant Hill is a city located in Contra Costa County, California, United States, in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. The city has an estimated population of 33,576 at the 2024 census. Incorporated in 1961, the city has a total area of 7.08 square miles (18.33 km2). Pleasant Hill is known as “the Bay Area’s backyard” and has several parks, including the Rodgers Ranch Heritage Center. The city is also home to historic spots such as the Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site and The Rosie the Riveter World. Pleasant Hill is home to family crowd-pleasers such as Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo and the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield. The city has several dining options, including Latte Da, Wence’s, and WiseGirl. Pleasant Hill has several public and private schools, including Pleasant Hill Middle School, Prospect High School, and Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy.
