Fresno County, California, is a major city in the San Joaquin Valley and the county seat of Fresno County. It is the largest city in the greater Central Valley region and covers about 115 square miles (300 km²). The county was formed in 1856 from parts of Mariposa, Merced, and Tulare counties. Fresno County is the sixth-largest county in land area in the state, encompassing 6,000 square miles.

Fresno County is known for its agriculture, with 1.88 million acres (760,000 hectares) under cultivation, almost half the total county area of 3.84 million acres (1.55 million hectares). The county is the second-largest agricultural producer in the United States. Some of the major crops grown in Fresno County include grapes, almonds, and citrus fruits.

The county is home to several cities, including Fresno, Clovis, and Selma. Fresno is the fifth-most populous city in California, with an estimated population of 1,039,934 as of the 2024 Census. The county’s government is defined and authorized under the California Constitution, law, and the Charter of the County of Fresno.

Fresno County offers a variety of attractions, including the Fresno County Blossom Trail, which showcases the beautiful blossoms of the region. The county is also home to several national parks, such as Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park, which are within a 90-minute drive from Fresno and Clovis.
