Los Altos is a city located in Santa Clara County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. According to the 2024 census, the population of Los Altos is 28,212. The city was incorporated on December 1, 1952, and most of its growth occurred between 1950 and 1980. Los Altos was originally an agricultural town with many summer cottages and apricot orchards. Today, it is known for its affluence and expensive residential real estate. Los Altos is centrally located in Silicon Valley and is a short drive to all major tech companies. It has a beautiful landscape with lots of trees and a stunning downtown area with everything one needs, including nice restaurants and even a swanky cocktail bar that’s open until 2 am. Los Altos is a very safe and quiet city with great infrastructure, including police, fire, library, and schools. The city has a council/manager type of government, and Sally Meadows is the current mayor. Los Altos is served by several public schools, including Gunn High School, Los Altos High School, and Mountain View High School. The city has a Mediterranean climate, with summers being clear, dry, and sunny, and winters being mild with occasional lows in the 30s or upper 20s.
